Planning

How long is a flight?

Strangely, we never ask how long a skydive lasts but this is the opposite at a wind tunnel.

We replicate the skydiving experience and offer flights which are about 1½ times longer than a tandem jump. So each flight is around 60 seconds, often a bit longer but never shorter than 50 seconds.

A double flight is about 120 seconds long. Please remember we are selling the exhilarating indoor skydiving experience which should never be measured in terms of time!

It may not sound long but as a first-time flyer it will seem much longer during the experience itself.

What are your Covid-19 Protocols?

We are currently operating within all Government guidelines regarding COVID-19 to ensure flyers, spectators & staff are in a safe, clean & hygienic environment.

If you're are visiting one of our tunnels, please note that we have implemented the following policies & procedures:

  • All flight waivers should now be completed in advance of your visit and you can do this here.
  • Your waiver now includes your essential training and induction so it's more important than ever to find time before your visit to do this. 
  • We are now asking customers to arrive 45 minutes before their flight time. 
  • This allows us to comfortably deliver an incredible experience in a safe & hygienic environment.
  • Please don't be late. If you are, you'll miss your flights.
  • Flyers aged 11+ years must arrive wearing a face covering.
  • Our tunnels operate using high-speed fresh air, so flyers wearing face coverings will be asked to remove them when participating in the activity.
  • However, they should be worn at all other times unless you are exempt.
  • You may bring spectators along with you on your visit. Please note, if the viewing area becomes too crowded we may ask spectators to vacate the building.
  • If you have a fever, continuous cough, or have recently lost your sense of taste or smell, please stay at home and contact us to discuss rescheduling your booking.

Can children take part?

Are you kidding us - kids love it here! Seriously, we can fly anyone aged 3 to 103 providing you are in a state of reasonable health and fitness, and can fit into one of our flight suits and helmets.

Does an adult have to accompany flyers under 18yrs?

Flyers under 18 yrs must be accompanied by a parent or guardian (over 18 yrs of age) on the day of flight. 

As we as being accessible on the day, the parent or guardian is required to complete a waiver for those under the age of 18 yrs. 

The waiver must be completed in advance of arrival and you can do so here.

If the waiver is not completed prior to arrival we will be unable to fly you as it contains vital training, health and safety information. 

I have a disability, can I fly?

Individuals and groups with additional needs or requirements CAN FLY. If you or someone you know finds it difficult to participate in able-bodied activities but still wants to be challenged, Indoor Skydiving might just be the perfect thing.

Are there any health restrictions?

If you're reasonably healthy and aged between 3 to 103, you can fly. If you have a history of neck, back, heart problems, or have previously suffered a shoulder dislocation or shoulder injury, you should seek advice from your doctor before flying.

Is there a weight limit?

Yes, anyone with reasonable health & fitness can fly but our upper weight limit is 18 stone and 7 pounds (117kg).

We do ask that you check the list of criteria below before booking. If you are concerned about any of the criteria, just contact us for a chat, we'll do everything we can to help you fly.

You can fly at iFLY as long as you:

  • Do not weigh more than 18 stone and 7 pounds (117kg).
  • Are 3 or above (you must be able to comfortably wear one of our helmets)
  • Are NOT pregnant
  • Have NOT previously dislocated your shoulder
  • Are NOT under the influence of alcohol or non-prescribed drugs
  • Are NOT wearing a hard cast
  • Have signed permission from a parent or guardian if under 18 years of age
  • Have completed our Declaration of Risk

Why do I need to complete a waiver?

We ask that all flyers complete a waiver online before they arrive on the day.

This lets us know that you're fit to fly and we ask that you pay particular attention to the information regarding previously dislocated shoulders. 

It also contains your essential pre-flight training and induction. 

A parent or guardian will be required to provide a signature on the online waiver on behalf of any flyers under 18 yrs.  A parent or guardian should also be present on the day of the flight experience. 

Anyone with reasonable health & fitness can fly but do check our list of criteria before you book. If you've any questions about who can fly, please contact us for a chat.

What are your opening times?

Owing to changing Government guidelines & forced temporary closures at some of our locations, we advise you to read our latest Covid-19 update for further information on our operational timings.

What are your off-peak hours?

If you're able to fly during our quieter times, you can save money on almost all our flight experiences. 

Our off-peak hours vary slightly at each location, but as a general rule, you should follow the below:

During School Term Time:
Off-peak prices are applied to selected flights times before 6pm and after 9pm Monday to Friday.

During School Holidays:
Off-peak prices are not available during the school holidays.

During school summer holidays:

Off-peak prices are applied to flights taken before 10:30am and after 9pm Monday to Friday.

All other times during our operational day are classified as ‘Prime Time or Super Prime’.



Is there parking on site?

We have parking a stone's throw away from all our tunnels.  

Both Manchester (M41 7JA or M17 8DD) and Basingstoke (RG22 6PG) have free parking spaces on site. 

Milton Keynes is situated at the Xscape complex (MK9 3XS) where parking costs from 40p per hour during the day.

When do I need to arrive for my flights?

As a rule of thumb, all flyers are now asked to report 45 minutes before their flight time.

Your report time at iFLY will also be confirmed to you via email once you have successfully completed a booking with us.

Example: If you choose to fly at 4pm you must arrive by 3:15pm. Please do not be late as we hate to see people miss their flights, and we are unable to offer refunds. 

How many people do you need to qualify for group flights?

iFLY classifies ‘groups’ as 5 or more flyers. Groups of this size are rewarded with discounts.

We can accommodate up to 13 flyers per session.

If your group size exceeds 13, we can still fly you across multiple flight sessions.

What should I wear?

That's easy. 

    • Dress in comfy clothes (shirts without collars are best)
    • Wear lace-up trainers
    • Bring a hairbrush if you have long hair
    • Flyers aged 11+ years must arrive wearing a face covering.
    • Our tunnels operate using high speed fresh air, so flyers wearing face coverings will be asked to remove them when participating in the activity.
    • However, they should be worn at all other times unless you are exempt.

Can I wear glasses in the wind tunnel?

If you wear glasses, we can provide extra large goggles that fit neatly over your glasses, meaning your sight is not obstructed during your flights. Contact lenses can also be worn under standard goggles but please note, there's always a small risk they may come out.

What do I need to bring with me on the day?

We advise that you bring a hard copy of all confirmation details including voucher(s) if applicable. 

If your flight experience was originally purchased through one of our Gift Experience partners or a Gift Voucher company (and not directly through iFLY), you must ensure you bring a hard copy of the original gift voucher that was issued to you. Without these, you'll be unable to fly.

Please arrive at iFLY comfortably dressed (avoid collars and hoods) and bring a pair of well-fitting lace-up trainers. We find that jeans, t-shirt and a pair of skate/running shoes are ideal. If you don't have a pair of lace-up trainers, don't worry, we do have appropriate footwear for hire.

If you have long hair we recommend bringing something to tie it up and maybe a brush.

You should be prepared to remove all loose items and all items of jewellery before flying. Whilst we do have basic lockers on site, we suggest leaving valuable items at home for real peace of mind. 

Please note, iFLY is a cashless leisure operator, meaning that payments made in-store / on-site / in person may not be made with cash.

How do I get to iFLY Basingstoke?

iFLY Basingstoke is located in the heart of the Basingstoke Leisure Park. From junction 6 on the M3 follow signs towards Newbury around the ring road until you reach the Thorncroft Roundabout. Take the first exit on to Churchill Way Way and follow signs for The Leisure Park.

How do I get to iFLY Manchester?

iFLY Manchester is located next to the Chill Factore indoor ski slope, and less than four miles from the centre of Manchester.

We are opposite the Trafford Centre and conveniently located just off the M60 motorway at junction 10.

How do I get to iFLY Milton Keynes?

iFLY Milton Keynes is situated at Xscape, directly adjacent to the main shopping centre. We are easily accessible by road, and Xscape has Pay & Display parking for over 1,000 cars.

How do I get in touch?

Are there any unforeseen costs on the day?

No, once you have made your reservation, you have paid for your flight experience.

However, we do have a number of optional extras that can be purchased on the day of your flight. Many customers ask us why we don’t include certain extras in the basic cost of our flight experiences and it’s a good point. The downside is that including extras would simply add a bit to the cost for everyone coming to fly and we don’t think that’s fair. However if you want to add pictures, videos, repeat flights or have a High-Flight experience we do charge for them as extras. Refreshments are available to purchase at all locations.

Do you have strobe lighting & flash photography?

Flight sessions involve occasional flash photography (the driver of our wind tunnel will be taking snaps of flyers mid-flight) and occasional strobe lighting. 

This should not affect your ability to fly or spectate, but please contact us before arrival if you think we should know about any conditions such as epilepsy or seizures. We may be able to adjust our systems to accomodate.

Is it difficult to breathe in the wind tunnel?

No, it’s just like breathing normally actually…..so there is no specialist breathing equipment required. Just relax and breathing will come naturally.

If you do suffer from any breathing difficulties such as Asthma, don’t worry, in most cases you’ll still find flying a comfortable experience and be able to breathe normally. However we do recommend you contact us with any queries so we can offer further advice.

I've heard about the High-Flight experience... how do I get this?

The Hight-Flight is the equivalent of a hot-lap on a track day where instructors will be able to give you a taste of what’s it's like to fly like a pro as they take hold of you and fly you around the tunnel, occasionally high up towards the top.

iFLY endeavours to offer the High-Flight in as many sessions as possible but owing to the specialist training and experience level required, we are unable to guarantee it. Remembering that Indoor Skydiving is a skill-based pursuit, we do encourage flyers to be in control of their own experience and to fly independently of their instructor. The High-Flight for that reason is an ‘extra’ and is only a standard experience in selected iFLY experiences. 

Instructors able to offer the High-Flight are among the most experienced in the world, undergoing hours of rigorous training before they are licensed* to fly with others. If an instructor with the appropriate license deems he can fly safely with an iFLY customer, and enhance their experience at the same time, then the High-Flight will be offered. If you have any questions regarding the High-Flight, we urge you to speak to a member of the team in advance of your flight.

How much does flying cost?

Is instruction included?

Yes, all of our first-time flyer experiences include instruction from highly qualified IBA (International Bodyflight Association) instructors who will be present throughout your flight experience.

What is the Kick-Start experience?

Our Kick-Start package is our most popular package and makes a perfect taster experience. Most people leave wishing they'd flown more, but this offers great introductory value.

What is the Air-Born package?

This is perfect for the more adventurous and it’s the one we recommend to get the most from your visit. You could be turning in the air, or picking a spot and flying to it by the end of your session  

It includes double the flying time of the Kix-Start and twice the fun! Often taken as 2 x double length flights, this is where you really start to make progress.

What is the Group Flight package?

This is the ultimate experience for friends & family, spanning all generations. Up to 5 people can enjoy a sensational flight experience all on one single, fun-filled visit.

What is Reschedule Plus?

Sometimes, due to unexpected circumstances flyers are unable to make their chosen flight date. Upon booking First Time Flyers will have the option of purchasing the Reschedule Plus - just £2.50 per experience.

This allows for unlimited booking reschedules to be made (at no extra cost) up to 48 hours before your flight date and is therefore strongly recommended.

Reschedule Plus now includes Covid Cover, so if you need to reschedule owing to a positive test result, you may do so at any time.

If a booking is the result of any voucher redemption, please note the expiry date on the voucher. Reschedule Plus will allow you to reschedule your flights on the basis the new flight dates are within the validity period. Flights may not be rescheduled beyond the expiry date on any voucher. 

There is also a 'Group Reschedule Plus' option for Exclusive session packages, for £25 per package.

Group Reschedule Plus allows you to reschedule your booking at no extra cost up to 7 days before your flight date.

Do I have to pay in full or will you accept a deposit?

To make a booking at iFLY we do ask for full, cleared payment at the point you make the reservation. Sorry, but we don’t accept deposits, part payment or pay on arrival.

Can I reschedule or cancel my booking?

Rescheduling

(a) First Time Flyers 

If you know you will not be able to make your flights, you may reschedule as follows:

  • For standard bookings with more than 48 hours’ notice, you may reschedule your flights. A charge of £6 per experience will apply.
  • For standard bookings with less than 48 hours’ notice, you may reschedule your flights. A charge of £15 per experience will apply.

If you fail to arrive for your flights, are late for your flights or fail to reschedule your flights within the times above for any reason, your booking will no longer be valid and you will not be entitled to a refund.

If a reschedule involves a change of location, you may choose from iFLY Manchester, Milton Keynes or Basingstoke only.

(b) Pro-Flyers, Returning Flyers & Flight Club Members

  • For any Pro-Flyer, Skydiver, Returning Flyer & Flight Club booking, a minimum of 120 hours' notice (5 days) must be given in order to reschedule your flights.

In the event that we do reschedule your flights within the 120 hours' notice period, regardless of the amount of flight time, a charge will be applied.

If you fail to arrive for your flights, are late for your flights or fail to reschedule your flights within the times above for any reason, your booking will no longer be valid and you will not be entitled to a refund.

If a reschedule involves a change of location, you may choose from iFLY Manchester, Milton Keynes or Basingstoke only.

(c) Exclusive Sessions for Group, School & Corporate

  • For all Exclusive bookings with more than 7 working days’ notice ahead of the flight date, you may reschedule your flights at a charge of £100 per session.
  • For all Exclusive bookings with less than 7 working days’ notice ahead of the flight date, you may reschedule your flights at a charge of £200 per session.

If you fail to arrive for your flights, are late for your flights, or fail to reschedule your flights within the times above for any reason, your booking will no longer be valid and you will not be entitled to a refund.

If a reschedule involves a change of location, you may choose from iFLY Manchester, Milton Keynes or Basingstoke only.

Reschedule Plus (Inc. Covid Cover) - an optional extra

(a) First Time Flyers

How do I book for the first time?

All our first time flyer experiences can be booked using our simple online booking system. You can Book Flights or buy Gift Vouchers.

Don't forget, booking online is also cheaper! You'll save money (£1.50 per flight experience) when you book online and we guarantee that you won't find cheaper prices elsewhere. If you do, we'll match those prices as part of our Price Guarantee.

After your flight

How do I access my photo and video downloads?

During your flight session the driver of our wind tunnel will be taking snaps of you mid-flight. Don't forget to smile! All photos can be viewed immediately after your flights and they’re available to purchase in a number of formats (digital downloads, 6 x 8 prints and more). 

You can also access your photos and videos online for a limited time only, following your flights. Please note, due to flyer's movements we cannot guarantee the perfect photo but we'll try our very best.
